Hauraki has returned to racing in slick form this time and remains outright $3.80 favourite in 2016 Ranvet Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Dibayani ($3.90) and Criterion ($5).

Will Hauraki justify favouritism and win the 2016 Ranvet Stakes or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

Criterion ($5)

Champion stallion Criterion returns to his pet distance in the 2016 Ranvet Stakes and will likely have too much class for his rivals this weekend. A four-time Group 1 winner, the Sebring entire resumed in spring for success in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) before finishing second in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) and third in the Melbourne Cup. Sure to have taken benefit from a first-up run in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m), Criterion will be partnered by Michael Walker and will be tough to beat form the ideal barrier 3.

The United States ($6)

The United States has returned to racing in typically smart form this time and will also relish a step up to 2000m for the 2016 Ranvet Stakes. Beginning his career under the guidance of leading Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien before being purchased and transferred to Robert Hickmott’s care prior to the 2014 season, The United States resumed this time for fifth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) on February 27th before savaging the line for second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last weekend. Kerrin McEvoy takes the ride on the Galileo entire from barrier 7.

Hauraki ($3.80)

Hauraki is a proven performer over course and distance and should lay a typically great account for himself in the Ranvet Stakes on Saturday. Returning to the paddock after running second in the Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m) and eighth in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), the Reset gelding resumed this time for third in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) before savaging the line for third behind Winx in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on February 27th. Leading hoop James McDonald will take the ride on Hauraki from the ideal barrier 2.
