The Coolmore Classic Day, held on Saturday at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, was once again host to a fantastic array of racing – one feature was the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m).
The sixth race of the day was one of nine top-quality events and saw 12 horses compete for a share in the $400,000 purse.
It was no surprise when Theseo crossed the finishing line first – winning his second Ranvet Stakes in a row. Trained by Gai Waterhouse, the Group 1 win is the geldings fifth, and Waterhouse’s seventh win of the Ranvet Stakes.
It was no surprise when Theseo crossed the finishing line first – winning his second Ranvet Stakes in a row.
In a recreation of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes, Theseo’s dominance left Rangirangdoo in the runners up spot, as the Chris Waller-trained gelding trialled the longer 2,000 metre distance.
Finishing third was Speed Gifted followed by Daffodil in fourth.
It seems set that the top four, other than the middle distance runner – Rangirangdoo, will start at the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) on the 3rd of April at the same track.
Also taking place on Saturday was the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m), the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m), the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m).
